My Hard Working Addi Turbos

well worn needles
When I sat down to teach my Magic Loop Socks class this weekend I realized something about my needles. I caught a glimpse of my favorite 40" magic looping needles under the harsh fluorescent light of day and saw them for what they are. I've been using them almost constantly since 2004 on countless socks. I have not been gentle with them, the cables get tugged, the stitches pushed and crammed over the smooth join and the metal turned golden in high traffic areas long ago. The needles are slightly bent from all the wear and tear. But after all this time (and abuse) they are still my favorites and my go to sock needles.

Rainbow Dad Socks
Both of these socks were knit with my magic needles. My Dad lovingly wore his socks (on right) in North Carolina's not so cool autumn and even while visiting me in the height of Southern California Summer. The day I got these socks back in the mail was very difficult but they comfort me still. He wore them for me even though it wasn't cold.

Mid Bounce
That's enough sentimentality for one day. We're making modern nostalgia in Casa de Fickle by letting Maya bounce on her ball until she's so tired she can barely move. Maybe in 20 years Maya will look back on this photo and remember the fun she had falling on her butt and shock that her folks let her do such a thing without a helmet or any other protective gear.

retro prints quilt
I'm also mixing old and new with these fabric reprints from the 1930s which I fell hard for, but without the aid of a bouncy ball and sugar.

Lastly, my remaining two favorite photographs of San Antonio:

Alamo Water Fountain
Fountain at the Alamo.

Building near the Alamo
Unknown building near the Alamo.
