Sometimes the simplest of things elude me.

Resulting in catastrophic gauge issues. Just be glad my finger isn’t on the button. Because I can’t distinguish a between US 3 knitting needle and US 6 knitting needle (that’s a 0.75mm difference, very visible to the normal naked eye).

At least I can keep my units straight. The gauge swatch knit on the size US 3 knitting needles was a half an inch smaller, meaning my sweater was 6 inches larger than it should have been. And also? Knitting a thick yarn on such small needles made my hands hurt. To which I say…Doh! It’s a good thing I learned a long time ago being normal is not one of my attributes.

I put them in flickr just for you! Hoar.
gauge, schmage. I bet the sweater is still beautiful.
I love the hat!
But they’re the same color. Surely they’re the same size.
Actually it’s slightly unnerving to me that I can distinguish most needle sizes nowadays. It’s helpful, mind you, but unnerving.
That cap is cute! Maya is cuter though.
It took me a moment to get the title of that hat. Toddler Tracker. You could find her anywhere in that color–well done!
